After graduating from high school I worked in my grandfather's garage, Ferman's Auto Sales, until he passed away in October of 1990. I then took over the business which I closed down 10 years later, in 2000. I also drove school bus for Chuck McKeirnan for 9 years. I still putter around in my garage fixing wrecked Fords and doing some body work on the side. I also enjoy spending time and working on my "Pout House" hunting camp in the woods behind my house.
I now work full time for the Chef Specialties Company in Smethport, starting there in January 2001. I have been the North American Sales Manager for Chef Specialties www.chefpepper.com since January 2004. Before that, I was the Assistant Sales Manager. I have been with the company for over 7 years. We manufacture and sell pepper and salt mills and spices, throughout North America and several countries worldwide. I have traveled extensively, attending trade shows and working with our representatives. In 2003, I had the honor of meeting with Governor Mark Schweiker for an awards ceremony and dinner in Harrisburg when our company won an Export Excellence Award.
I have been in the Smethport Fire Department for 20 years now, and have held the position of both Fire Chief and President. After that many years, the younger members of the department have officially proclaimed me an official "Old Fart" of the Department. I am currently a Trustee in the Department.
I live on the family homestead on the East Valley Road. I have two children, Shawn (stepson) who is 22, and Hannah Catherine who will be 12 in September. Hannah is starting 7th grade and is a beautiful blonde haired, blue-eyed girl. She's very outgoing. I'm not looking forward to the 'teen' years with her I can tell you!
Hard to believe that almost 20 years have gone by since graduation! I have not seen too many folks from the class, but do run into someone now and then. Almost time for a 20th Reunion!
